Nearly all problems and questions related to Safety training can be addressed by reading the following. Various Internet Explorer browser settings and pop up blockers are the cause of nearly 90% of Safety training problems - please read and follow the instructions carefully prior to making any calls to the Information Center.
Users working away from the office, for best results, do not access safety courses through VPN. When using the VPN, you are connecting to the Schneider network, then back out to the Internet. Our site is on the Internet and will be faster if you can go directly to our site when you are not in the office.
The Learning Center cannot support home PC's if they will not let you properly run the safety courses. There are to many reasons why the courses will not launch correctly. We can only support company PC's and Laptops which have Remote Administration installed on them and are connected to the Schneider network, either from the office or through the VPN.
When contacting The Learning Center, please know what your IP address is of your PC. We will probably need to connect to your PC to see what the problem is with your PC.
The following are the required Internet Explorer (IE) settings for your PC. To access the IE settings, please do the following:
General Tab
- Double click on the Internet Explorer icon
- From the Toolbar, select Tools
- Select Options
- Go to the Temporary Internet Files Sections
- Click on Delete Cookies button to remove all cookies
- Click on Delete Files button
- Click on Settings button, click on first radio button (Every visit to the page)
- Click OK
If your PC does not have the Temporary Internet Files section, then go to the next tab.

Security Tab
- Click on Security Tab
- Click on the Internet icon (globe), Local Intranet, Trusted Sites, Restricted Sites (must do one at a time)
- Security level for this zone setting should be set to the default level
- If setting is set to Custom, then click on Default Level button (if the Default Level button is not greyed out, you need to select the button)
- Select Default Level button
Select each icon in the box (Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites, Restricted Sites) and set all 4 icons back to the Default settings by selecting the Default Level button, if the button is available.
If you have anything other than the Default setting set, then your browser may be blocking you from accessing The Learning Center, or our vendors site where the courses are stored.

Privacy Tab
- Click on Privacy Tab
- Settings should be set to the Default level (if the Default Level button is not greyed out, you need to select the button)
- If Settings is set at Custom, then click on Default button to return to the Default settings
If you have anything but the Default settings blocked, you will be preventing cookies from being written to your PC. The Learning Cente and our vendors use cookies to store who you are and where you are in a course. Our site needs to be able to write cookies to your PC.
If your PC has been upgraded to XP Service Pack 2, then click on the Settings check box in the Pop-up Blocker section to unselect the Pop Up blocker. You must uncheck the 'Block pop-ups' check box in the Pop-up Blocker section on the Privacy tab.

Verify that you have the following URLs as shown below in the "Allowed sites" section.

Connections Tab
- Click on the Connection Tab
- Click on LAN Settings button, in the Local Area Network (LAN) settings section

- Uncheck the checkbox "Use automatic Configuration script"
- If other checkboxes are checked, need to uncheck
It you have the "Use automatic Configuration script" set, your PC may lock up while running the safety course.

Advanced Tab
If you are running programs on your PC for electronic scanning or storage, such as Winchill, or other IS programs, then your Internet Explorer browser may have the Java (Sun) on (checked). Having this option checked will interfere with the courses running properly.
- Click on the Advanced Tab
- Scroll down to check if there is a Java(Sun) option
- If one exists, then uncheck the "Use Java 2 v1.3.1_06 for <applet> (requires restart)" option
- Click Apply
- Click OK
Note: you may need to check the Java(Sun) option again after completing the safety course.

Standard Toolbar on Internet Explorer Browser

Non Standard Toolbar on Internet Explorer Browser
Below is a graphic screen shot of what a toolbar looks like that has Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL Instant Messenger installed. The red arrows below indicate where the pop up blockers settings are located on the toolbars.
- If there are any words in the toolbar that indicates "Blocked", then a pop up blocker is turned on
- Having pop ups or ad blockers WILL prevent the course from launching
- Non standard Toolbars pop up blockers MUST be disabled or permanently removed
- Pop ups and ad blockers are known to enable themselves as the user goes from storyboard to storyboard

Many people are installing Spyware programs on their PC, such as Microsoft AntiSpyware, Spyware Doctor, which installs a program on your PC to prevent unuthorized sites from your browser. Spyware programs can block The Learning Center, or our vendors site (Coastal Training Technologies) from your browser.
If you, or the Information Center, has installed Spyware programs on your PC, you may need to contact the Information Center to have you unblock our site from your browser.
- To open current audio connections, select the two arrows in the lower right hand corner of Taskbar (shown below)
- Click on the volume control icon (shown below)
- Volume level pop up will display
- Ensure that Mute checkbox is unchecked
- To open the master controls, double-click on the volume control icon
- Ensure that the Mute checkboxes are unchecked (shown below)
- Ensure that the volume level controls are turned up

- Verify that the headphones or speakers are plugged in correctly
To determine the version of the Windows Media Player, please do the following:
- Go to Taskbar and select Start
- Select All Programs
- Select Accessories
- Select Entertainment
- Select Windows Media Player
- Select Help from Toolbar on the top of the Window Media Player screen
- Select About Windows Media Player
- Version listed on third line of graphic (shown below)

PC has been upgraded to XP Service Pack 2 - a course is launched, the following error message is received: "Windows has block this software because it can't verify the publisher." Name: voxacm.cab" "Publisher: Unknown Publisher."

When a course is launched and user is able to see the screen but no video and audio, need to install a patch. Before installing the patch, please read the following:
- Operating system should be Windows XP
- Media Player should be Version 9
- Run the following file by clicking on the following link - (voxXP9ware.exe)
- Reboot PC after installation
The following patch will need to be installed. Click on the following link to invoke the installation: voxacm.cab
- Click on Open button
- Click on Extract button
- To access the file, go to C:\voxacm on your PC's hard drive
- Right click on voxacm.inf file and click on Install
The Coastal safety courses cannot be downloaded.
- Hardware - Pentium processor, 32MB RAM, 16-bit Sound Card (for Audio)
- Software:
- Internet Explorer (IE) 5.0+, Media Player 7.1 (Windows 98)
- Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0+, Media Player 8.0 or 9.0 (Windows 2000, Windows XP), Flash Player 6.0 or above
